Growing Rosemary Plants
Plant in a sunny position with well-drained soil. Once established they will happily thrive with very little input, growing to around 1.5m tall.
We harvest all year round for culinary purposes but the new spring growth has the best flavour.
Using Rosemary
Best suited to a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. Said to be susceptible to frost but I’m yet to see any damage from the light frosts we get in the Bay of Plenty.
Rosemary can be pruned to shape & makes a good hedge plant. We tend to use them as a shrub layer under our Figs and Peaches alongside Lavender, Bay and other herbs.
Most often used in cooking, there are numerous other ways to use Rosemary. Check out this post for some great ideas.
